I decided to take the afternoon off to recharge the batteries in nature, and I was glad that I did.

Wyre is a ‘slow burn’, at the start of the season it feels frustratingly slow to awaken.

But by the end of the season, especially one as dry as this year’s, things seem to be holding up quite well, and may do so for a little while yet.

I was particularly pleased to see that a patch of bog pimpernel Anagallis tenella has spread considerably since my survey during 2023 for my thesis, despite the dry weather.

Bog pimpernel growing at the margin of a flush, bisected by a forestry track, at SO 7463 7704.

A brief update this time. Until next time!
